Facial Acupuncture for Cosmetic Enhancement - Leeds

Restore        Revitalise        Re-energise

Indulge yourself in the rejuvenating and deeply relaxing benefits of Facial Acupuncture. Facial Acupuncture for Cosmetic Enhancement is the insertion of very fine needles within specific points on the face, and along lines and wrinkles.  Resulting in a reduction in the visibility of these lines and wrinkles, leaving the client with a smoother, firmer, youthful and revitalised complexion.  Widely used in celebrity circles, Facial Acupuncture is considered a safer treatment to Botox Therapy and an alternative to cosmetic surgery.

Suffering with stress, anxiety, insomnia or addiction?

We also offer the wonderful relaxing and detoxifying effects of auricular acupuncture.  This can be combined with Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture or used as a separate treatment.  Fine needles are inserted into specific points in the ear which link to your body's organs. This helps to reduce emotional and psychological symptoms causing a calming, relaxed and grounding outcome.

How does it work?

Facial Acupuncture or Facial Rejuvenation has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medical practices.  It is believed that by placing a needle in specific points on the face that imbalances between yin and yang can be brought back into balance.  Thus promoting harmony, good health and well-being.

From the many physiological studies which have occurred over time, we now understand that the insertion of the needle within the skin and underlying layers creates micro trauma and an inflammatory response.   It is this response which brings with it increased micro circulation and stimulation of local healing.

The stimulation of local healing has been shown to:

  • Improve circulation thus promoting draining of fluid retention

  • Facilitate muscle regeneration

  • Improve skin elasticity as a result of localised collagen production

  • Increase oil and water content

Overall improving the skin and complexion, and contributing to the reduction of lines and wrinkles.  It can create a tighter feeling to the skin, particularly immediately after treatment. All these aspects combine to offer a naturally holistic approach to improving appearance.

Acupuncture  can also stimulate the autonomic nervous system, This can have an influence on the  digestive, respiratory and cardiovascular systems which underpin the maintenance of healthy skin.  Acupuncturing key points on the body that are away from the face can therefore influence and support the positive effects of facial acupuncture.

How regularly will I need treatment?

At your initial consultation suitability for treatment will be discussed and consent obtained. You will receive a full explanation of the points to be needled and sensations that may be experienced.  You will also be given the opportunity to experience the treatment.  Following the initial consultation each typical treatment session may last up to an hour, and while improvements can be seen after one session for best results, treatment would be repeated over a course of six to 12 sessions, over a period of three to 12 weeks. Once an initial course of treatment has been undertaken, clients will benefit from single occasional sessions carried out once every 2-3 months.  This maintains the rejuvenating affects from the initial course  of treatment.

Where will the treatment take place?

3R Facial Acupuncture is based at Garforth Leisure Centre, however for complete client convenience, 3R Facial Acupuncture also offers a mobile service meaning you will receive the treatment in the comfort of your own surroundings.  You will be positioned in a lying position on a massage table but reclined sitting can also be used if necessary.

What are the costs and payment methods?

Treatments taking place at Garforth Leisure Centre will cost £65 for the Initial Consultation then £80/45 per 60/30 minute follow-up treatment.  A Home Consultation will cost £90 (plus travel).  With the purchase of 6 treatments you will receive your initial consultation half price.  Treatments further than 6 miles from Garforth will incur an additional mileage charge.  You can pay by cash, cheque or BACS.

Cancellation Policy- Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are liable for the full fee.

Are there any risks?

Acupuncture is generally very safe. Serious side effects are very rare – less than one per 10,000 treatments. The practice of Facial Acupuncture is a technical skill which requires a good knowledge and understanding of the underlying anatomical structures, and exact technique to avoid harm and discomfort to the client.  In compliance with strict health and safety guidelines, only sterile, single-use needles are used.  Common risks to receiving Facial Acupuncture are small areas of bleeding and bruising and drowsiness occurs after treatment in a small number of patients.

Acupuncture should only be carried out by suitably trained professionals.    Paul has completed additional intensive training in FACE,  is registered with the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, has Enhanced CRB checks and holds appropriate insurance.

What does it feel like?

You may experience a small moment of slight discomfort when the needle is inserted into the skin which then rapidly subsides.  Yo may then report normal sensations of tingling or dull aching.

What will I need?

Paul is completely self sufficient and will bring all the necessary equipment.  If you have a preferred face cream to use during the face massage following  treatment this would be required.

How big are the needles?

As different structures can be needled all over the body, the depth of needle penetration will vary with the target tissue being needled. This requires several different lengths of needle to be used in each treatment.
